The yard.

Surprisingly, my favorite thing to do on vacation was just to be outside. It's that time of year in Florida when we are trapped inside because outside is so miserable that you cannot even take a breath without wishing you had a jar to dump it back into.

At mom's house, we spent our evenings on her lawn, with wine. Because, y'know, wine not? (Just admit it, you wanted to laugh.)

Even Nana had a drink. Love that.
So yeah. We sat around the yard.

This is the sunset right outside my mom's house. Not bad, right?
Pretty flowers.

I love taking pictures of aminals. It was hard to get a shot of Princess (yes, that really is her name) because taking the leash off her is a risk, to say the least.

So while I took pictures of the dog, Lily played with sidewalk chalk.

Her uncles were happy to play with her.

And what did she want Ben to draw? Mmm-hmm, a monkey. Fine, his monkey drawing actually looks like a monkey, complete with bananas in hand.
And, as usual, she drew on herself, too.

She made Kiki draw, too.
Or pay the price for insubordination.
Not that we just sat around. Lily is unlikely to sit around when dogs need to be walked.

Poor Khan. He got stuck with the grill. He claims not to mind.

And we played with the magic Gymboree bubbles. Judging by the wardrobe changes in these pictures, we must've played with bubbles every night.

And not to be left out, we also rolled down the hill. It's been a really long time since I did that - just for the fun of it, that is.

  1. Wonderful pictures! Lily is such a darling -- apparently one should not cross her, though, as poor Kiki learned the hard way! Nor am I surprised that her uncles had fun with her. I just wish we'd had an evening or two in Nana's yard too... but heaven forbid that we drive in rush hour traffic! Thanks for sharing, as always. (and loved "Wine not...")
